Even though I've traveled a lot, I've been concerned with security in South America. And it's not just us - locals we meet are as concerned as we are. People certainly talk about safety and security much more than at home, and with good reason, I suppose. So we get warned a lot not to take out our smartphones in the street and to take taxis at night instead of walking, and to make sure that the taxis are properly licensed, etc.
(Knock on wood). So far, we've had nothing but great experiences. As we plan out the next phase of our trip we're thinking of this place to stay in on the coast. Looks safe, right?

Yep, that looks and sounds like a totally legit place...
Do they require payment in unmarked bills?
